Fall Athletics Guidelines

The Humphreys County School System has decided to move forward with all fall athletic programs.

With that said, we fully understand that this must be done with the utmost caution and dedication to safety protocols, bearing in mind that the safety and well being of our students, staff, and community are far more important than any sports season. In cooperation with Governmental orders, TN Department of Health recommendations, TSSAA guidelines, and District safety procedures, we have carefully planned for our return to fall sports. We are optimistic that fall sports can resume safely, with minimal spread of COVID-19, but we are fully aware that this might not prove to be a reality. If at any point in time, district leadership determines that the dangers of continued play outweigh the benefits to our student athletes, the decision may have to be made to cancel activities for a period of time, or for the duration of the season(s).

School administrators and athletic directors have been given specific guidelines for the operation of fall sports. These include safety guidelines for athletes, responsibilities for coaches/sponsors, appropriate use of facilities, and expectations for staff/volunteers, student athletes and their families, and spectators.

The list below summarizes some of the guidelines and protocols which will impact fall sports:

Athletic programs will follow the TSSAA/TMSAA regulations and guidance.

Schools will modify seating capacity at events and will specify certain seating areas within the venue.

Ticket distribution plans will be announced by the individual schools. Priority will be given to families of athletes, cheerleaders, bands, etc.

Prior to entry, spectators must answer screening questions and have their temperatures taken. Anyone with a temperature greater than 100˚F may not attend the event.

Spectators must wear facial coverings if within six feet of others and if using a projected voice within 15 feet of others. Appropriate exceptions may be made for young children and individuals with medical reasons who are not able to wear a mask.

Spectators are not allowed on the fields/playing areas.

Restroom space will be limited.

Concession stands will be limited.

Schools may make other accommodations as needed to facilitate appropriate conditions for play and for athletes.

Thank you in advance for your patience, cooperation, and support. Please check with your school for current schedules. Notification of changes will be made as early as possible to avoid any inconvenience.
