M.M.S. Family and Community Involvement Policy 2005-2006
The vision of McEwen Middle School is to provide all students with a safe and challenging learning environment that allows multiple opportunities for students to develop personal learning styles, interests and strengths. M.M.S. wants all students to have the skills necessary to reach the potential that will enable them to survive in the present and thrive in the future. In order to achieve this vision, M.M.S. stakeholders believe that the administration, teachers, parents and the community share the responsibility for the education of students. Collaboration is essential in providing a quality education and promoting social values for all students. M.M.S. developed this Family and Community Involvement Policy through a committee comprised of M.M.S. administration, teachers, support staff and parent representatives. This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as appropriate to meet the changing needs of the school and the community. A copy of this policy will be distributed to each student at M.M.S., with copies also available in the school office, as well as in each classroom. The Family Friendly Survey was also given to all parents of students enrolled in M.M.S. during the 2004-2005 school year. These survey results also impacted the development of this family involvement policy. In an effort to encourage positive communication between the school and parents, M.M.S.: The mission of McEwen Middle School is to provide a challenging learning experience in a safe environment where students are encouraged to develop positive characteristics that will enable them to become contributing citizens. |
